Father of Mohammad El-Haj Khalil. Mohammad's travel document gives his name as Karim (Arabic كريم); the family writes it Kraiem, which may stand for the diminutive Kuraiyim (كريّم). Surname assumed from his son's. Abdul Karim, his grandson, corrected the name to Kraiem, explaining that in Lebanon names are written in French.
